ATTN Senior 1 – Ignore brackets in HW

Dear Senior 1s,

In the Homework which I asked you to try out (even though we didn’t do too many examples in class) DO NOT let the brackets mix you up. Work it out as though there are no brackets like we did in class. The brackets are just there to emphasize that the sign in front of a number belongs to the number. So for example if I have:

2 – (-8) this is the same as 2 – – 8 which becomes 2 + 8 = 10

and

-3 + (-3) this is the same as -3 + – 3 which becomes -3 – 3 = -6

Hope this helps with your HW for Monday on pg 317 No.s 10 to 21 🙂

  2. 3y + 2 = 7y – 10
